Following the release of their two EPs, Will James quit the band and was succeeded by Tobin Esperance. They went on to produce two other EPs as an independent band before joining DreamWorks Records in 1999. The first album from this major record label, “Infest,” which was issued in 2000, went triple platinum, then their “Lovehatetragedy,” issued in 2002, went gold.
Early Years (1993–1999)
This group was started by two students who went by the names Jacoby Shaddix and Dave Buckner. Soon after, they found Jerry Horton to be their lead guitarist and Tobin Esperance, their bassist, forming the team whose style of music was defined.
Through the 90s, Papa Roach continued releasing several EPs and albums on their own while gaining fans through their extensive tour. This effort was eventually noticed by some leading record companies.
